Core Values

Who are we?

Our Vision Statement
Community focused, seamless banking for all.

Our Mission Statement
We build financial security with our member-owners and communities by putting people before profits.

We are member-owned and are accountable to our members. After annual contributions to retained earnings have been made, Williams Lake and District Credit Union's profit are returned to Credit Union members and the Credit Union's local communities. We support our local communities through donations, sponsorship, bursaries and volunteer efforts.

Co-operative Values

Co-operatives are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity. In the tradition of their founders, co-operative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.

Co-operative Principles

The co-operative principles are a framework on how co-operative organizations put the co-operative values into practice. The seven co-operative principles are covered below as short videos.

Cultural Values

In addition to the co-operative values and principles you've seen above, your Credit Union has adopted the following cultural values.
We continually advance our unwavering commitment to serve. This commitment to service extends to our members, our communities, and our employees. It is through this service that we develop rich, meaningful relationships with our people.
We share a deep and genuine concern for the well being of our employees, members, and communities. We believe that our organization succeeds by ensuring that the best interests of employees, members, and communities are paramount in our decision making.
We believe that exceeding our members’ expectations requires a steadfast commitment to the ongoing development of our people. In this way, we build our people and they build our collective business for us.
We promise that our dealings will be open and transparent. When it comes to important financial decisions, we understand that surprises can be unwelcome and our commitment to transparency ensures that there will be no surprises.
We believe that giving back to our members and our communities is critical to our long-term success. Giving back goes beyond financial donations and sponsorship, and endeavors toward a social profit that is shared with our communities.
Our belief is that, whatever we do, we must do so in the best possible way. Our service must be excellent, as must our products, our communication, our processes, and our interactions. Only by striving for excellence can we meet our members’ expectations.
Being an enjoyable place to work results in a more enjoyable experience for our members and our communities. We actively create joy in our workplaces.
Only by working as a team can we possibly bring together sufficient expertise to exceed the expectations of our members and help them achieve their dreams.
